How to read your dashboard
A walk through every section of VALION INSIGHTS and what the things you see there mean.
Executive summary (AI)
When you open your account, the first thing you see is a short, automatically generated summary, in plain language, covering what matters most this month: how much you have spent, how your security is doing, and what is worth looking at first.
Overall status
A band with a quick look at 3 things: whether you are capturing savings, how your security stands, and whether your spend is going up or down compared with last month — along with a few key numbers (active regions, open findings, opportunities found).
FinOps (costs)
Here you will find:
- Current month spend compared with the previous month, and a projection of how the month will close.
- Savings opportunities found in your account — unused resources, cheaper instance types, available discount commitments, among others.
- Budgets you have configured in AWS, and how close you are to each limit.
- Top services by spend, so you know where your money is going.
Security
The security section boils down to a score from 0 to 100: the higher it is, the better protected your account. That number goes down when there are open findings, and up as you resolve them.
Below the score is the list of findings — specific things to review, sorted by urgency (critical, high or medium), such as users without multi-factor authentication, access left more open than it should be, or unencrypted resources.
If you have AWS security tools enabled in your account (such as GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, Config or Macie), you will also see a status card for each one, with its most recent result.
Want to know how the score is calculated and how serious each type of finding is? See Security rating.
Anomalies
This is where spend that falls outside the normal pattern of your account shows up, detected automatically — for example, an unexpected jump in the use of some service. It is there to catch something that should not be happening while there is still time.
Data refresh
Your information refreshes on its own Monday through Friday at 1am (it does not run on Saturdays or Sundays). Near your account name you will see when the last refresh happened, along with a button to force a manual refresh if you need one sooner, any day of the week. More detail in Metrics.
