What we check on every refresh

Every time your account is refreshed, VALION INSIGHTS queries your AWS infrastructure directly (with read-only access) to bring back:

Costs: current and previous month spend by service, end-of-month projection, configured budgets and how far along they are.
Savings: unused resources, cheaper instance types, available discount commitments, certificates about to expire.
Security: findings from GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, Config and Macie (if you have them enabled), access and IAM hygiene, public S3 buckets, open security groups, KMS key rotation.
Technical inventory: EC2 instances, volumes, snapshots, RDS databases, load balancers, elastic IPs, network interfaces — in every one of the AWS regions your account has enabled, not just the one you use every day.
Continuity: backup plans and vaults (Backup), CloudTrail status, password policies.
Anomalies: spend that falls outside the normal pattern of your account, detected automatically.

All of it is consolidated into a single dashboard, with a plain-language summary generated by AI — nobody on your team has to go console by console, service by service.

When does it refresh?

Automatically, Monday through Friday at 1am (Colombia time). It does not run on Saturdays or Sundays — an explicit decision of the platform, explained below. In addition:

As soon as you connect a new account, an immediate refresh is triggered — you do not have to wait for the next automatic run to see your first data.
You can force a manual refresh whenever you want, from the button next to your account name on the dashboard, any day of the week.

Cost transparency. Of the 270-580 API calls per refresh, only 3 go to Amazon Cost Explorer, the one AWS service that charges per query (USD $0.01 each — about USD $0.03 per full refresh, automatic or manual). The rest are free of charge. With the automatic refresh running Monday through Friday (~21-22 times a month), the expected cost is roughly USD $0.65 per month per connected account — practically nothing, and the reason it does not run all 7 days of the week. If you also use the manual refresh button often, each use adds that same USD $0.03 cost in your own AWS account. The full detail is in the Terms and Conditions.
