How to start using VALION INSIGHTS
From connecting your AWS account to seeing your first dashboard with real data.
1. Connect your AWS account
Your Valion account executive will send you a connection link. When you open it (from a session signed in to your own AWS account, not Valion's), you will see the AWS CloudFormation wizard with the details already filled in — all you have to do is review and confirm the creation.
That step creates, inside your own account, a read-only role that lets Valion query cost, usage and security configuration information. You authorize that access, and you can revoke it at any time from your AWS console.
2. Enable a few AWS tools
To make the savings recommendations more complete, we will ask you to turn on a couple of free AWS tools in your account (such as Compute Optimizer and Cost Anomaly Detection). It is a couple of clicks from your console — your Valion account executive will walk you through it if needed.
3. Sign in for the first time
You will receive an email with your username and a temporary password. The first time you sign in, the system will ask you to create your own password and to accept the Terms and Conditions of the service.
4. Wait for your first dashboard
As soon as the account is connected, a first refresh is triggered right away — there is no waiting. From then on, your data refreshes on its own Monday through Friday at 1am (it does not run on Saturdays or Sundays). It is normal for the dashboard to take a little while to show complete information the first time.
If at any point you need to see the most recent data without waiting, there is a button to refresh manually from your own dashboard.
