Terms and Conditions

1. Who we are

VALION INSIGHTS is a platform operated by VALION (official AWS partner, Advanced Tier) for cost monitoring, optimization and security posture of Amazon Web Services (AWS) accounts.

2. Read-only access to your AWS account

To deliver the service, Valion accesses your AWS account through a read-only IAM role that you yourself create and authorize when connecting your account. Valion never has write permissions or access to the content of your objects (files, databases, and so on) — only configuration, cost and usage metadata. You can revoke this access at any time by deleting the role or disconnecting the account.

3. Data we collect and what for

We collect cost, service usage, security configuration and operational metadata from your AWS account in order to produce the dashboard, the savings recommendations and the security findings you see on the platform. We also store your user details (name, email, job title, phone if you provide it) in order to manage your access. For more detail, see our Privacy Policy.

4. Use of artificial intelligence

The executive summary and the chat assistant in VALION INSIGHTS use third-party artificial intelligence models to generate text from your account data. These responses are generated automatically and may contain inaccuracies — they do not replace the professional judgement of your team.

5. Recommendations are not a guarantee

The savings opportunities, security findings and recommendations shown by the platform are informational. You are responsible for validating any change before applying it in your AWS account — Valion does not guarantee specific results and is not liable for actions you take (or do not take) on the basis of this information.

6. Confidentiality

Valion treats the information in your AWS account as confidential and does not share it with third parties, other than the providers strictly necessary to operate the service, or where required by law.

7. Term and termination

You may stop using the service and revoke access at any time. Valion reserves the right to suspend accounts for misuse of the platform.

8. Intellectual property

The software, design and brand of VALION INSIGHTS are the property of VALION. These terms grant you no rights over them beyond use of the service.

9. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is", with no guarantee of continuous availability. Valion shall not be liable for indirect damages arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the platform.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia.

11. Cost of data refreshes

Every full refresh of your dashboard (automatic or manual) makes, among others, 3 queries to Amazon Cost Explorer — the only AWS service we query that charges per query (USD $0.01 each, per the public AWS rate), so each full refresh costs approximately USD $0.03. That cost is incurred directly in your own AWS account, not on a Valion invoice — it is AWS that charges it, not us. The rest of the information we collect (cost by service, security, technical inventory, and so on) carries no additional per-query cost.

For this reason, the automatic refresh runs Monday through Friday at 1am (Colombia time), and does not run on Saturdays or Sundays — taking the average business days in a month (~21-22), the expected cost of the automatic refreshes is approximately USD $0.65 per month for each connected AWS account. In addition, you have a manual refresh button available on the dashboard, which you may use any day — but each time you use it you will incur that same approximate USD $0.03 cost in your AWS account, on top of the automatic refresh. If you use the manual refresh very frequently (for example, several times an hour or every few minutes, every day), that cost accumulates in your account and is your responsibility, not Valion's — we recommend using the manual button only when you genuinely need data more recent than the last automatic refresh.
